Our Overnight Stay In Brighton

It's that time of year when you're just getting over the Christmas hoo-ha and going into the New Year but don't want to be caught up in the hustle and bustle of going out on New Year's Eve (Hogmanay for my Scottish family and friends) when it's so busy and the taxi fares would break the bank but you don't want to be that couple who sit up and watch the crap on the telly until midnight then go to bed feeling old and passed it.

So my plan was to book us into a hotel in Brighton the day before New Years Eve (brilliant) it meant we could get to Brighton early in the day, spend the day there pretending to be a tourist, nobody has to know we live a few miles down the road, then go back to the hotel, get ready to go out for the evening drinking with the luxury of having a room to stagger back to. Brilliant idea why didn't I think of this before.

We started our morning getting the bus straight into Brighton (no point paying an arm and a leg for parking). Hubby decided he wanted to sit at the back like he's on the school bus or something, oh the joys.

We eventually arrived at Brighton, it was one of the windiest days of the week and it was blowing a hooley, by the time we arrived at Brighton it was 10.30am and we were booked in to our Travelodge for 3.00pm so we had a good few hours to kill.

Excited as I was to be getting out and about we decided to look through the shops then make our way to JB's American Diner which was my personal reason for picking Brighton in the first place.

We took a walk down to the Pier where the waves were crashing around and the wind was howling around us but it was a great way to blow the cobwebs away. I took a video for you all to share the experience.

By the time we checked into our room we were exhausted, we decided to have a cuppa then go to bed for a nap, we are so rock and roll.

By 7.00pm we were awake and thinking about food and drink, we had big plans to go somewhere nice and have a meal then go onto a bar and have a few drinks, the reality was we couldn't be bothered to go out the hotel because it had started raining hard and the wind was still howling, so we ate in the café bar and the strongest drink we had was tea and coffee.

We spent our evening watching TV in bed then fell asleep snuggled up listening to the rain and wind outside.

So there you have it, our overnight stay in Brighton, if you have a similar story to tell, get in touch I would love to hear from you.
