It may only be October, but there are still plenty of reasons why you need to start your Christmas preparations early this year! Firstly, starting all your preparations now means that you won’t have to rush around once December is here. It also means you can get your shopping done before the shops increase their prices in December! But there is also another reason. Carefully Consider Gifts

One of the biggest parts of Christmas is all the presents. The kids will love running downstairs to see what Santa has left them under the tree! But you should be careful not to buy any gifts that could promote an unhealthy lifestyle. So try and stay away from DVDs and computer games that could tempt your kids to spend hours on the sofa all day. Struggling with gift ideas for your husband? Plan Your Christmas Feast

Another huge part of Christmas is the big feast on Christmas day! Even though it is a day to celebrate and relax on your diet, you should still be careful about the food you serve. Turkey is a very lean meat, so there is nothing to worry about there. And as there are always a few servings of different veggies, your family will get plenty of vitamins and minerals. Don’t make too many roast potatoes, as they can be very fattening. Especially if you cook yours in animal fat. If you want a super healthy alternative, make some cauliflower mash rather than mashed potatoes. And don’t overdo it on the Christmas pudding!


Plan Some Activities

Most people sit around at home all Christmas watching lots of films. That doesn’t mean your family has to do this as well! If you are an active lot, you will no doubt want to make the most of your days off work and school! So sit down now and see when you can plan in some family days together. It’s a good idea to book them now before your social calendar gets booked up! Why not plan on going for a long family stroll after Christmas dinner as well! That’ll be a great way to burn off all that food.

Don’t Drink Too Much

Many people also tend to overdo it on the booze at Christmas as well. It’s fine to have the odd celebratory tipple but make sure you don’t drink too much. After all, no one wants to endure a hangover at Christmas! Not only that, though, but alcohol is just empty calories. You will already be eating more than usual, so give your body a break. Instead, why not try some alcohol-free cocktails?
