10 Tips for Perfect Nail Polish Application

Here are a few tips I've learnt along the way, trying to perfect the nail polish application and making it stay on for longer, I hope these tips will be of use to you too.

1. Keep your nails short, the longer your nails are the more chance you will use them to open things, thus chipping them.
2. Smear Vaseline around your nails to stop any polish clinging to your skin.
3. Paint two base coat layers - one on the top half of your nail and the second coat over the entire nail.
4. Using White polish as a base helps mask the colour of your nail coming through (I personally haven't tried this).
5. Use 2 thin layers of polish rather than 1 thick one.
6. Use a good top coat, I've found the Gel top coats last longer.
7. Seal your polish with the top coat at the tips to help stop the polish from chipping.
8. Allow plenty of time for your nails to dry before getting on with stuff, they will only smudge and you'll have to start all over again.
9. Applying your top coat every few days helps to keep the nail polish intact.
10. Always wear gloves when cleaning and washing dishes to prevent the nail polish from wearing away at the tips.

Try out some of the tips the next time you apply your nail polish and see the difference for yourself.
